“Like a lot in my life, my decision to “get fit” was always going to happen tomorrow. I have spent my life abusing my body and thinking I still had time to fix it later on. Before I knew it my 20s passed, my 30s passed and my 40s passed. My 50s had arrived. I was out of shape and overweight. My last real exercise had been 30 plus years ago when I was in high school. How could that have happened?
By accident, coincidence or perhaps divine intervention, I found myself talking to Michael Matthes and, CrossFit M2 and agreeing to work out with him three times a week. Before I knew it I was on my way to CrossFit training. I had no idea what I was in for. Michael started out very slowly, helping me build strength, endurance and self-confidence and tailoring workouts to my specific needs and limitations, keeping safety first.
I have been working out with Michael for about 2 years now, and I totally love it! That’s something I never, ever expected to happen. My desire to exercise had become a wanted part of my life instead of a needed part. Michael makes the workouts fun. The pace is fast, yet we are always doing something different. I never get bored or tired of it. He pushes me to do more than I ever would or could do on my own. Michael gives me encouragement when I need it and pushes me always to do more, not because it’s his “job” but because he cares for my health.
I have so much more energy than I ever have. I sleep better, breath better, eat better and have lost more weight than ever before in my adult life. My plan is not to be the next “senior super model.” It is simply to be more fit. I have finally realized this is not a race to fitness. It’s a journey to overall wellness. I have nobody other than Michael to thank for that.
If you are new to exercise or have been active all your life, I can’t say enough about CrossFit M2. Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed! I know I’m not.
